Also known as rhytidectomy, a facelift is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck. Facelift procedures vary widely in magnitude or scope, but all serve to tighten the tissues of the face and neck, restoring a more youthful appearance and contour. Most patients requesting evaluation for a facelift feel that their facial features do not reflect their youthful spirit and energy level.
Ultimately, a facelift can allow you to turn back the hands of time to better reflect your youthful personality. If you are interested in a facelift, consult with your Associates in Plastic Surgery surgeon to determine which procedure is best for you.
A forehead lift, also known as foreheadplasty, is often performed to treat conditions associated with upper facial and orbital aging. It may be done in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures to achieve a more harmonious facial appearance. A forehead lift can raise sagging eyebrows and reduce forehead wrinkles. Younger adults who have a low brow or who already have deep frown lines due to stress or over-activity of muscles may benefit from the forehead lift procedure.
Over the years, forehead lift procedures have evolved from open techniques to more complex short incision and endoscopic techniques. Consult with your Associates in Plastic Surgery surgeon to determine which procedure may be best for you.
A submental lipectomy removes localized fat deposits under the chin, corrects muscle laxity and may be combined with neck skin tightening procedures to significantly improve neck contour. While there are a number of variations on the procedure, the most common method involves a small incision made underneath the chin. The fat in this region is removed through liposuction or directly excised. Muscles are tightened, and a small amount of skin may be removed. The result is a more youthful-looking neck with better contour.
Consult your Associates in Plastic Surgery surgeon to determine which neck procedure is right for you.
Eyelid procedures, also known as blepharoplasty, can correct a wide variety of problems. These include excess skin that obscures the natural fold of the upper eyelids; loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids; a puffy appearance to the upper and lower eyelids; excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelids; bags and dark circles under the eyes; and lower eyelid droopiness. There are a variety of surgical techniques that can improve the appearance of your eyelids.
Rhinoplasty, also known as nose surgery, improves the appearance and proportion of your nose, enhancing facial harmony and self-confidence. Surgery of the nose may also correct impaired breathing caused by structural abnormalities in the nose. There are several types of rhinoplasty available. Consult with your Associates in Plastic Surgery surgeon to learn more about nose surgery and what type of rhinoplasty may be best for you.
Ear pinning, also known as otoplasty, is a procedure used to move protruding ears closer to the head. The ears are repositioned by reshaping the cartilage (supporting tissue). This is usually accomplished through incisions placed behind the ears so that subsequent scars will be concealed in a natural skin crease.
Ear pinning can be performed on children as early as age five or six. Correction of the ears prior to the child entering school helps eliminate potential psychological trauma from the teasing of classmates. Adults may also have their ears reshaped, and there is no upper age limit for this surgery.
