A medial thigh lift in Baton Rouge reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin, and in some cases fat – resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body. If fitness and weight loss efforts have not achieved your goals for a body that is firmer, more youthful-looking and more proportionate to your overall body image, a medial thigh lift (also called a medial thighplasty or an inner thigh lift) may be right for you.

The Medial Thigh Lift

A medial thighplasty is an excellent option for patients who are looking to tighten and define the look of their thighs. It specifically removes tissue from the inner thighs.

What separates the medial thigh lift from another common technique, the lateral thigh lift, is the location of its incisions. For a medial thigh lift, the incision is made in the groin crease of the inner thigh area. The lateral thigh lift, or outer thigh lift, requires a groin crease incision that stretches around the hip and to the buttocks.

Am I the Right Candidate?

The best candidates for a medial thigh lift are patients who have sagging thigh skin as a result of genetics or massive weight loss. Good candidates are non-smokers, since smoking can negatively affect the health of a person’s skin tissues, resulting in complications. Additionally, good candidates should have realistic expectations and should be in good mental and physical health.

Your Thigh Lift Consultation

During a medial thigh lift consultation, your plastic surgeon will examine your thighs to ensure that this is the right procedure for you. You will discuss your aesthetic goals with them, along with your complete medical history, including any allergies, past procedures, and medications you are currently taking.

Your plastic surgeon will walk you through the details of a medial thighplasty, from preparation through recovery and healing. Once it has been determined that the procedure is right for you, they will create a surgical plan and set a date for the surgical session.

Getting a Medial Thigh Lift

A medial thigh lift begins with the administration of general anesthesia combined with local anesthetic to ensure that the patient is free from pain and discomfort during surgery.

After the anesthesia has taken effect, the medial thigh lift incisions are created. This allows the plastic surgeon to trim away excess drooping skin with a scalpel and remove excess fat with liposuction. The remaining skin is redraped and tightened. Finally, the incisions are closed with the help of stitches.

Aftercare Following This Procedure

Once your inner thighplasty is complete, you will need to return home to rest and recover. Follow your surgeon’s care directions diligently. Take prescribed pain-control medication as needed, and wear post-surgical elastic garments to control bruising and swelling.

Stay home from work for the recommended amount of time, and avoid any physically strenuous activities in order to avoid damaging your incisions. Once healing is complete, you will be able to see your full results in the form of fit and sculpted thighs.
